Join the Refugee Resettlement team as Behavioral Health Specialist. The Behavioral Health Specialist is responsible for assessing students and families who are eligible for the Refugee School Impact program and connecting them to available resources. The Behavioral Health Specialist will work closely with the education team to provide mental health training to students, parents, and teachers and provide referrals and follow-up for mental health services, as needed. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with refugee students, have strong connections with mental health providers in the Houston community, and display initiative.

What you Deliver
You provide mental health trainings to students enrolled in the Refugee School Impact program and to parents of refugee students
You develop and implement professional development trainings for teachers on the topic of trauma in refugee students and common mental health responses
You work closely with the education team to connect with refugee students who display a need for mental healthcare. Make appropriate referrals for mental health services and follow-up to ensure student is connected with mental health services
You create resource packets for schools on topic of mental health
You coordinate crisis intervention meetings with school counselor, teachers, parents for students who are in crisis at school
You lead social-emotional learning activities for RSI program and evaluate efficacy of social-emotional learning interventions
You develop social-emotional curriculum to be delivered to students in after-school programs
You perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
